Western Motel Shamrock TX

My wife and I stayed here for a night on our way from central Missouri to Albuquerque. I had made a reservation online prior to leaving home, based on the website description and the excellent reviews. We love staying at older historical properties like this, especially if the owner has spent time and money modernizing and renovating, as this gentleman has. We were NOT disappointed! The owner checked us in, and checked us out the next morning. Don't let anyone try to tell you that owning a motel is a kick-back-and-relax proposition! The room was very pleasant, with modern paint touches and a strong AC system, and the usual coffee maker, TV, easy chair, etc. The bed, likewise, was not a Walmart special, as it was comfortable (to us), as were the pillows. The bathroom, too, had some unexpectedly nice tile and the shower pressure was great. The bath was small, but certainly in keeping with the "motor inn" design when it was built, and no fault of the owner. Above all...clean, clean, and CLEAN! The room, the bathroom, the office, the parking lot, all spotless. This is an owner who has pride! And the price for all this? Under $100, with room left for breakfast. If you like properties with Route 66 history and a story to tell, we HIGHLY recommend a stop here. Great food within walking distance, fuel is also close by, and the iconic Tower Conoco station is literally across the street. The Western Motel is a true gem, and we won't hesitate to stay here again!

This is the place to stay in eastern Texas off Interstate 40. It’s easy to see much thought and care takes place at this nicely restored motel. The rooms and exterior are immaculately clean. I loved that the sheets and pillows smelled so fresh. It really had everything we needed with an attentive owner always around. We would come back again and again.

Rooms clean quaint. Everything CLEAN QUIET and in working order. I never cared for Dish tv or whatever that is. It never works; but the WiFi there is great. HOT water in the shower. Nice sized bathroom. Clean Crisp bed linens. Room SMELLS CLEAN and IS CLEAN. Staff so very nice and helpful. This place was godsend for a weary traveler like me.

The top blanket was dirty but I didn't care. The bed was comfy and the shower was hot and the AC was cold.

The rooms are clean the the housekeepers are nice and helpful and the people who run the motel are nice 10/10

We had a late evening arrival after a long day traveling from Colorado....we had a little miscommunication about our room and the bed sizes......we had booked on Hotels.com. We were going to have to move from the room we originally booked....but the only option available was a room with 2 full beds.....which was going to be very tough for our family. The lady at the desk (we neglected to get her name) was SO very nice and helpful after we went back down to the office.....she made a special accommodation for our family needs and got us into a room that was MUCH more accommodating. Kudos to her and the motel. The room was WONDERFUL. We were so pleased and thankful that she went out of her way to help us and accommodate us when she didn't have to. GREAT customer service and we hope to stay here again. Our stay was on 3/22/25.....thank you so much ma'am.....you made our day!!!!!

Rustic look. However, it was clean, quiet and the service was very nice. I would stay here again. It's a small town with quaint charm.

Nice room, smelled clean. Staff were helpful finding us a place to eat. ( Rusty's) We arrived about 7pm. Thank you for the good night's sleep. We would stay again.
